Goodbye book, hello word!

I don’t tell my youngest daughter: “Drop the phone”. She is almost 10 years old, does not read books, but the girl is smart. She teaches Japanese herself, although there were no leads in the family in Japan. The oldest is 19, she has been reading books avidly since childhood, and now she cannot be torn off.

The youngest was born with a telephone, which is no longer a push-button and has become more than just a telephone. Communication with friends mainly goes through text on the phone. We will not touch on video, sounds, but focus on the perception of information through the word. Today the word also comes through the phone.

Books stop reading not because people are tired of the word. Not because I'm tired of the text, I'm tired of the language, especially its "highest form of existence - poetry." The material on which the word is transmitted changes. Paper is no longer “in trend”. Although those who really love to read will agree that nothing is more convenient than paper.

Paper gets expensive. Reading from the screen is cheaper, there are so many books in the "gadget" that not a single library of paper books has ever dreamed of. Libraries, I mean institutions, are being converted to digital. What they managed to print - remains, new paper books are added less and less. Adults vote to replace books with screens. Vote, as is customary, with a wallet.

Let's remember that there are videos, sounds, and other ways of getting information, not just words. And here is the main concern for parents. A book is exclusively a text, if a child is with a book, then it is clear that he is with a word. And if the child has a phone? Will, the child choose text over game, video, or music? What is a child, if an adult with a phone, what will an adult choose?

The text competes for the attention of a person on the same site with serious "rivals". Big romances lost the battle before it even started. It's hard to imagine "War and Peace" on your phone. Literary stories are also difficult to call winners, except for stories where a person just changed the paper to screen, but this is not a battle. Text messages and tweets of all stripes are modern text players. Whether we like it or not.

I fight on the side of the word. I know that the word is a key element in the education and upbringing of a person. I do not struggle with telephones but accept reality. Are games on phones popular? Sure. This means that I am doing a word game that will fight for a person's attention on the site he has chosen, understanding who my opponents are. All my life I have been making scan word puzzles, which I still like not because I am such a cool author, but because people love the word, and the short sword format is convenient for them at a certain stage of life.

I made a word game "Word", where the text was reduced to its atom - the word (we will not split the atom into letters). At the same time, it turned out to combine in one game the atoms of different languages, for example, Russian, English, French, Tatar and, ultimately, all languages. The atoms intertwined in pairs and gathered into crystal lattices. My goal: to instill in children and support adults' attention and interest in the word as a basis.

There will be a weak foundation, maybe it will never reach the books. If the meaning of life is to get better, and books are an excellent helper in this, then the game is worth the candle. Therefore, from the title of this article or, as they say, today, "post": "Goodbye, book, hello, world!" I would like to leave the golden mean: "hello book."
